The short version
Libertas Insurance is a licensed independent insurance broker. We help you compare quotes and place coverage with the carriers in our panel. Using our website or our services means you agree to the terms below.
- A quote is not a binder. Coverage only begins after a carrier accepts your application and the licensed Libertas agent confirms it — we'll tell you the exact effective date in writing.
- We use AI to help with intake. AI cannot bind coverage; only a licensed agent can.
- Your final premium can differ from the quote based on what the carrier finds during underwriting (driving record, credit-based insurance score, prior claims, property inspection, etc.).
- We may earn a commission from carriers we place your policy with.
- If we ever disagree about something, Texas law governs. We've tried to keep this fair.
This summary is a courtesy and is not a substitute for the full Terms below.
1. Agreement to These Terms
What it means to use this site.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Libertas Group, LLC, doing business as Libertas Insurance ("Libertas," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your use of the Libertas websites at libertasinsurance.com and its subdomains (including quote.libertasinsurance.com), our AI-assisted chat, our quote forms, our checkout/bind page, and any other Libertas service that links to these Terms (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing the Service, providing information to us, or engaging us to shop or place insurance on your behalf, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. About Libertas
Who we are and what we are licensed to do.
Libertas is an independent insurance producer (agency and broker). We do not insure you ourselves. We help you select and place coverage with one or more of the insurance carriers in our panel. The carriers issue the insurance contracts; the insurance contract is between you and the carrier.
- Producer of record: Kyle Kriegel
- National Producer Number (NPN): 20767295
- Licensure: A current list of states in which Libertas is licensed is available at nipr.com under our NPN.
- Phone: (254) 304-5173
- Email: service@libertasinsurance.com
If you are located in a state where Libertas is not licensed for the product you are asking about, we will tell you, and we will not present quotes for products we cannot lawfully place for you. We may collect your contact information and follow up if our licensing changes.
3. What Our Service Does
A plain-language description of how this works.
The Service helps you:
- Tell us about yourself, your household, your vehicles, and your home through chat, web forms, voice, or text;
- Receive comparison quotes from one or more carriers in our panel;
- Choose an option and request that Libertas place ("bind") coverage with the selected carrier;
- Provide payment information through our encrypted checkout page so the carrier can fund the first premium.
The Service is informational and operational support for a relationship between you and a licensed insurance professional at Libertas. The Service does not replace that licensed professional. You may speak with a licensed agent at any time by calling us at (254) 304-5173.
4. Quote vs. Binder
The most important sentence on this page.
Until those three conditions are met, you have no insurance coverage from Libertas or from any carrier in our panel, regardless of:
- Anything an AI-assisted conversation might say;
- Anything our quote pages display about expected premiums or expected effective dates;
- Anything you might infer from the fact that we have your payment information.
Your final premium and your coverage terms may differ from the quote because carriers perform underwriting that uses information not available at quote time, including: motor vehicle records, credit-based insurance scores, prior loss history, property inspections, prior carrier verification, and miscellaneous appetite or eligibility rules. The carrier — not Libertas — decides whether to offer coverage, at what price, and on what terms.
Estimated ranges and verified rates
While we shop your coverage, our quote pages may show an estimated price range for an option before the carrier's exact figure is confirmed. The low end of a displayed range is the carrier's own preliminary figure. When an option is labeled "verified," the displayed premium is the rate captured directly from the carrier's quoting system at that time — it remains subject to underwriting as described above.
How long your quote and secure link stay live
A secure bind-request link we send or display is valid for seven (7) days from issuance. Quoted rates are typically honored by carriers for up to thirty (30) days but may change earlier if carrier rates, your information, or underwriting data change. If your link or quote expires, contact us and we will refresh it.
5. AI-Assisted Intake
What the AI does and what it doesn't.
Parts of the Service use an AI-assisted conversation to gather the information needed for a quote. By using the chat, you understand and agree that:
- The AI is not a licensed insurance agent and cannot bind coverage, accept an application, change coverage, cancel coverage, or make any decision that requires a licensed professional;
- The AI can make mistakes; you should verify any specific number, date, coverage description, or carrier statement with a licensed Libertas agent before relying on it;
- Your conversation is processed by a third-party AI service that operates on Libertas's behalf under a commercial agreement that prohibits using your conversation for other purposes;
- A licensed Libertas agent reviews every bind request before any policy is issued, and is responsible for the final policy quoted to you;
- You can ask to speak to a human at any time, including by calling (254) 304-5173 or emailing service@libertasinsurance.com.
If anything the AI says appears to contradict these Terms, your policy documents, or a statement from a licensed Libertas agent, the policy documents and the licensed agent's statement control.
6. Authorization to Obtain Reports
What you authorize when you ask us to shop coverage.
By giving us the information needed to prepare a quote — including by completing the chat, completing a quote form, or providing the information by phone — you authorize Libertas, the carriers we shop with, and our data providers to obtain consumer reports about you for the purpose of preparing and underwriting quotes. These reports may include:
- Motor vehicle records from your state(s) of license;
- Credit-based insurance scores, used solely for insurance rating;
- Prior insurance loss-history reports;
- Public-record and proprietary property data about the home or other property you have asked us to insure.
This authorization remains in effect for as long as we are actively shopping or servicing coverage for you, and you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect reports already obtained or coverage already in force.
7. Your Responsibility for Accurate Information
Why your honesty matters and what happens if it's missing.
You agree that the information you give us — directly or through any agent you authorize to provide information on your behalf — will be true, complete, and not materially misleading. You agree to update us promptly if information changes during the quoting process or during the life of a placed policy.
Material misstatements or omissions on an insurance application can lead to denial of a claim, rescission of coverage retroactive to inception, surcharges, non-renewal, or referral for fraud investigation. We rely on what you tell us; if it is wrong, your coverage may be at risk. If you have any doubt about how to answer a question, please ask a licensed Libertas agent to help you answer it.
8. Payments, Refunds, and Cancellations
How money moves and what happens if plans change.
How payment works
When you select an option and request that we bind coverage, our checkout page collects payment information (a bank account or a payment card) that the carrier will use to fund the first premium. Payment information you enter is encrypted in your browser before it is sent to us, so the plaintext values never reach our servers. Only authorized Libertas staff — with the corresponding decryption key — can decrypt the values to enter them at the carrier portal.
Authorization
By submitting payment information through our checkout, you authorize Libertas to provide that payment information to the selected carrier (or its payment processor) for the purpose of funding your initial premium, and you authorize the carrier to charge the premium to the payment method you have provided.
Premium changes after underwriting
If the carrier returns a premium different from the quote (because of underwriting findings), Libertas will contact you with the revised premium before you are charged the difference. If you decline the revised premium, the application will not be bound and any held funds will be returned to your payment method consistent with the carrier's and our processor's normal timelines.
Cancellations and refunds
Cancellation and refund rights are governed primarily by the carrier's policy terms and the law of the state in which the policy is issued. As a general rule:
- You may cancel a policy at any time by giving Libertas or the carrier written notice. The carrier will refund any unearned premium, computed on the basis stated in the policy (usually pro-rata for cancellations initiated by you and short-rate or pro-rata for cancellations initiated by the carrier, depending on state law).
- "Free-look" rights, if any, are governed by your policy and state law.
- Cancellation by the carrier is governed by the policy and the law of the state where the policy is issued, which generally limits when a carrier may cancel an in-force personal auto or residential property policy.
- Libertas does not charge a separate broker fee for placing personal lines coverage at this time. If we ever introduce one, we will disclose it before you are charged.
9. Communications
Your consent and your opt-out rights.
By providing us a phone number or email address, you consent to receive service-related communications from Libertas about your quote, your policy, billing, claims, renewals, and similar matters. You also consent to marketing communications about Libertas insurance products. Communications may be by email, text message (SMS), or voice call, including by automated systems and prerecorded messages where permitted by law. Your consent to marketing communications is not a condition of purchasing any insurance product. You can opt out of marketing at any time as described in our Privacy Policy § 8; we honor opt-outs promptly and in all cases within ten (10) business days. Service communications are not "marketing" and may continue while we have a business relationship with you.
Quote follow-ups
If you start a quote and step away before finishing — or your final rates land after you leave — we may send you a short series of follow-up emails and/or texts containing your quoted numbers and a secure link back to your quote. The series is limited (we will not pepper you), stops immediately when you opt out or when you bind, and every message identifies Libertas Insurance and how to stop further messages.
Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply. Libertas does not charge you for texts. Reply STOP to any Libertas text to end texts, or HELP for help.
10. Carrier Relationships & Compensation
How we make money.
Libertas is appointed by, or has a producer agreement with, each carrier in our panel. When a policy is placed and paid for, the carrier typically pays Libertas a commission. The commission is a percentage of the premium paid and is included in the rate the carrier offers you; you are not separately charged for it. Commission rates vary by carrier and product.
Libertas does not guarantee that any particular carrier will offer you coverage, that the cheapest carrier will be in our panel, or that we will shop the entire universe of available carriers in your state. We use a curated panel chosen for combination of price, claims service, financial strength, and breadth of appetite. The current panel is available on request.
If you would like to know the specific commission Libertas receives on any policy we place for you, you can ask in writing and we will tell you.
11. Eligibility
Who can use the Service.
The Service is intended for use by individuals who are at least 18 years old, are residents of a state where Libertas is licensed for the product they are inquiring about, and are inquiring about insurance for themselves, their household, or property they own or are about to own. If you are inquiring on behalf of someone else, you represent that you have that person's authority to provide their information to us.
Some auto insurance products require you to list household drivers under 18. Those drivers are not "users" of the Service; the parent or guardian provides the information about them.
12. Acceptable Use of Our Site
What you agree not to do.
You agree not to:
- Use the Service in violation of any law, including by submitting information about another person without their authorization;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service, any account, or any underlying system;
- Submit fraudulent information, including fake names, fake addresses, or stolen payment information;
- Use the Service to scrape, copy, or mirror our content, our rate engine outputs, our carrier panel, or any other proprietary data;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from any part of the Service;
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network, except through a coordinated disclosure to security@libertasinsurance.com;
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure (including by automated chat traffic);
- Use the Service to send unsolicited communications to anyone else;
- Manipulate or attempt to manipulate the AI-assisted chat to behave outside its intended purpose, including jailbreak prompts or prompt injection.
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for any violation of this Section.
13. Intellectual Property
What we own and what you can do with it.
The Service, including all text, graphics, layouts, logos, software, rate-engine outputs, content, and the look and feel of our chat interface, is owned by Libertas or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. "Libertas Insurance," the Libertas wordmark and logo, and similar Libertas branding are trademarks of Libertas. Third-party carrier names, logos, and marks are the property of their respective owners and are used by Libertas with permission as part of our producer relationships.
You may view the Service for the purpose of getting a quote or managing your relationship with Libertas. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, frame inside another website, or create derivative works of the Service without our prior written consent.
14. Disclaimers
What we don't promise.
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Libertas disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, with respect to the Service.
Without limiting the foregoing, Libertas does not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time;
- Any quote will result in a binding offer of insurance;
- Any carrier in our panel will accept your application;
- Any rate displayed in our quote flow is the lowest rate available to you;
- Any statement made by the AI is accurate or complete;
- Any third-party site we link to (including carrier sites) is accurate, current, or secure.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties; in those jurisdictions, the exclusions above apply to the maximum extent permitted.
15. Limitation of Liability
The cap on our exposure.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Libertas's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100) and (b) the amount of broker commission Libertas received on the policy that gave rise to the claim during the twelve (12) months preceding the event;
- Libertas is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, lost premium savings, or loss of goodwill, even if Libertas has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law — including, for example, our obligations as a licensed insurance producer under the law of the state where you are insured, your consumer-protection rights under applicable state law, or any liability for fraud or gross negligence. These limits also do not affect the insurance carrier's obligations under the policy of insurance it issues; those are separate from this agreement and are governed by the policy itself.
16. Indemnification
When you stand behind us.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Libertas and its officers, employees, contractors, and agents from any claim, loss, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your submission of false, fraudulent, or unauthorized information to the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any applicable law or the rights of another person. This obligation survives termination of these Terms.
17. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
How disagreements are handled.
Talk to us first
Most disputes can be resolved by talking to us. Before filing any formal claim, please contact us at service@libertasinsurance.com or (254) 304-5173 and give us thirty (30) days to address the issue.
Governing law
These Terms and any dispute arising under them are governed by the laws of the State of Texas (where Libertas is organized), without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Nothing in this Section overrides the law of the state where you live to the extent that law gives you greater rights as a consumer or as an insurance policyholder.
Venue
Subject to your right to seek redress through your state insurance regulator or a small-claims court, any judicial action arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in McLennan County, Texas, and you and Libertas consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Regulatory remedies preserved
Nothing in these Terms limits your right to file a complaint with your state insurance regulator. Nothing in these Terms requires you to waive a right that, under the law of your state, cannot be waived.
No class actions
Each party agrees that disputes arising out of these Terms will be brought in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. This Section does not apply to claims that cannot be waived by contract under applicable law.
18. Changes to These Terms
How we update this agreement.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and material changes will be highlighted on the site. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of an updated version constitutes acceptance of the updated version. If you do not agree with an updated version, please stop using the Service and contact us to wind down any active relationship.
19. Termination
How either of us can end this.
You may stop using the Service at any time and may ask us to delete information consistent with our Privacy Policy. Libertas may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if your conduct presents a risk to Libertas, our carriers, or other users. Termination of the Service does not, by itself, terminate any policy that has been bound; the policy is between you and the carrier and is governed by its own terms.
20. General Provisions
The fine print.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any policy, certificate, or disclosure delivered to you by a carrier, are the entire agreement between you and Libertas about the Service.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce that provision later.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a corporate transaction.
- Force majeure. Neither party is liable for any failure to perform caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, acts of government, war, pandemic, supplier failures, internet outages, or cyber events.
- Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
- Survival. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 7, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 20 — will survive.
